Apology Letters

   Apology For Not Believing Person

Dear {Name},

I feel terrible. I'm sure that's nothing compared to how I've made you feel. When you {told me/made public statement} about {fact/event}, I could not accept that it was true. I just couldn't wrap my head around the idea that {event could happen/person could do thing}. Maybe I was in denial. Maybe I was thinking of my own self-interest. Maybe I was just being a jerk.

Regardless, I did the one thing I shouldn't have done: I chose not to believe you. You and I have been {friends/family/colleagues} for a long time. You deserved my trust, not my dismissal. I wasn't just rude; I negated your experience. For that I am so sorry.

It shouldn't have taken {external confirmation} for me to realize that you had been telling the truth all along. I should have believed you. I should have stood by you. I hope you can forgive me. Please let me know if there anything I can do to help you moving forward.

Sincerely,

{Name}
