Apology Letter For Assuming

Dear {Name},

I cannot apologize enough for assuming that you were the one who told our boss I was upset about the wage freeze. I panicked when he confronted me, and I jumped to the conclusion that he had learned of my feelings from you, perhaps since you were the last one to whom I spoke about the situation at work.

However, when I later calmed down, I realized that I had taken several people into my confidence on the subject of the wage freeze, and any one of them could have relayed my words to Mr. Brownlow.

This has been a learning experience for me. Not only should I never have accused you of betraying my trust, but I should have never spoken so openly about personnel matters in the first place.

I hope you will forgive my rudeness toward you, and the awkward position I put you in.
