Dear {Office of Admissions},
I deeply regret not following the public health guidance, and I understand that I am now {out of compliance/on unpaid leave/out of the friend group/etc.}. I don’t want to make excuses, but the pandemic has been wearing on me, and I finally decided to {go against rule or mandate}.
I understand that it’s not all about me, and I’m not some special snowflake who can disregard what’s safest for my community. I’m especially sorry for any harm caused to my {friends/colleagues/etc.} by my selfish behavior.
Please know that this incident has given me a fresh and broader perspective on what is going on in our world, and how I can be part of the solution instead of part of the problem.
