I'm sorry for cutting out early the other day. I know I left the rest of you to {finish the project/wonder where I was/etc.}. I had to leave due to {family commitment/sudden illness/etc.}.
I wish I had communicated better and sent everyone a quick email. I apologize for the inconvenience. Also, thank you, {Coworker Name}, for calling to see if I was okay. I'd rather be thought of as a total flake than cause anyone concern like that!
Next time I have to go home early, I won't leave you in the lurch.
