I'm sorry for "mansplaining" when we were talking about {topic} earlier. I didn't realize what a self-centered, condescending jerk I was being until I replayed my own words later. Then, it really hit home when {person} pointed out {specific example of mansplaining} as well as the broader cultural history of this unacceptable sexism and gender bias.
I respect you a great deal and I'm fully aware of your extremely relevant expertise in {area}. You certainly didn't need me bloviating with "well, actually" and all that.
I resolve to not be a patronizing jerk in the future, and I will especially not offer my interpretation unsolicited. I hope you will give me another chance to converse like a sentient human being!
