I'm sorry for my earlier comment, {name}. I'd delete it, but I don't want to cover up what a jerk I've been. I never should have posted what I did. I knew that posting {thought/opinion/pejorative} would hurt and anger people, and I did it anyway. Ugh. I respect you and value your friendship. I'm sorry that you and your friends had to see this side of me. This {issue/election/personal situation} has brought out the worst in me on social media. I hope that you remember our many positive in-person interactions and can get past my rude misstep here. I'm taking a Facebook break until I can get my act together. I hope we can still be friends.
